Name: Cillian Archibald Roche Nicknames: Goes exclusively by “Roche” Meaning: Roche = “born of the crag/stone”
Age: Appears 48, is in fact 573 Height: 6’ Weight:172lbs
Eye Color: Amber Hair: Black, with greying stubble Complexion: Pale enough to suggest he gets no sun
Species: Werewolf – of the cursed-by-a-witch variety
Sexuality: Whatever is playing on Cinemax at the time
Father: SHRUGS Mother: Elizabeth Roche Spouse/Partner: N/A
Ethnic Background: English/Welsh/Irish/Scottish --- YOU KNOW, that whole area
Occupation: Paid vocation is that of a butcher. Yeah he handles meat on a daily basis, what of it. Also? The reluctant lackey of a witch that has absolute control over him. Residence: Boston City
Appearance:
Permanent bedhead. Permanent stubble of varying length. Roche has lines under his eyes, circles under his eyes. He looks like he doesn't understand the concept of sleep. His complexion is pallid and white to the point he looks like a shut-in.
Sharp and angular features. He is a haggard older guy who might be passably handsome if he didn't look like he was half dead.
History:
Roche was born in 1440 in a small English town within Durham county. He was given the name Cillian by his mother, Elizabeth. It was not until he was seven did Cillian realize he was growing up in a brothel. His mother was a prostitute as it was her only means to provide for her son. She fell ill when Cillian was twelve. Elizabeth passed quietly during the night and Cillian was left to fend for himself.
He found work through manual labor. He was a stable boy, a farmhand, and eventually a smithy’s apprentice. Cillian grew quite skilled in metal working and may have had a lucrative career in the field if not for his love of drink. Drunk and made overly bold by alcohol, Cillian ruined an ornate sword meant for a ceremony. He was kicked out, became a village drunk, a thief, a murderer for hire – anything to survive.
The young man was haggard and lost the day a noble came across him. Cillian was drunk and covered in mud and pig shit, and yet the lord saw something within him – a will to survive, perhaps. Cillian was taken under his wing and trained in the arts of swordplay and politics. He grew into an able soldier and a loyal one, as he viewed the man as a surrogate father. The man Cillian thought of father offered him a gift, one that would grant him strength and power. Cillian accepted without hesitance and thus was born into the werewolf brotherhood.
Cillian assumed the name of Roche, his family name, and proceeded to make a reputation for himself as an agent of information and brutality. He had a soft spot for the underdogs, however, and went on to form a unit comprised of society’s outcasts. Thieves, criminals, whoresons and bastards filled his ranks. It is those people that he came to view as family.
The War of Roses hit England like a plague. Roche fought at his lord’s behest on the side of House Lancaster. The battles were frequent and brutal, the trade of power hard to predict and difficult to navigate. It was not during a battle that Roche nearly met his maker, but through a drunken brawl. He took a knife to the gut and stumbled out into the mud. He would have died there if not for the intervention of a woman.
She offered him a chance at life, and it Roche seized it desperately. He had a job to complete, a lord to serve, and a house to usher into victory. He agreed to whatever terms she dictated and those terms were as such: Roche would serve her and her daughters into perpetuity. His life was now theirs.
Roche woke up within an Inn, tucked inside a warm bed. He was dry and void of pain and injury. The previous night with the witch was nothing but a distant memory. Roche went on to serve in the following battles. He saw the House of Lancaster win the war and found the Tudor Dynasty.
He saw more. He saw his friends grow old. He saw the seasons pass. Roche never aged passed his forty-fifth birthday. During the night, lost in his thoughts within his home, the witch came to claim her prize.
Roche has served the witch’s family for centuries. He has been a watch dog, a guardsman, a murderer, thief and test subject. What they ask of him, he has no choice but to oblige. When one witch died from age or disease, another one seized control over him. As long as the line of daughters persists, his pact cannot be broken.
And the witches only give birth to daughters.
Roche lives his current life within Boston. He works as a butcher in a local meat store. The recent witch that holds his leash is one of the kinder ones, but as she gets deeper and deeper into old magic, her demands on the werewolf grow.
Personality:
Abrasive, curt, but not viciously unkind. Roche is straight-to-the-point and holds no punches when it comes to speaking his mind. He has lived for centuries and has become rather disenchanted with the world. Calling him a misanthrope may be going too far, but Roche certainly has a hard time seeing the value in people. He still possesses a soft spot for the underdog, however, and falls to an act of benevolence from time to time. He might give a recovering addict a job or throw a few dollars into a beggar’s cup.
He is sarcastic and has a very dry and dark sense of humor. There is something almost off-kilter about the man as he finds the most peculiar things amusing. He will make fun of you and he will probably mean it.
Roche has always loved his wolf and is very in tune with the beast. There is a wildness to the man, a sharpness to his eyes and disposition. He is reactionary, expressive in his body language and obvious in his aggravation. His animalistic nature sees that he has a selectively short fuse. There are certain things that set him off.
Family is important to him. Those close to Roche to be considered as friend or family are treated to an intense loyalty. Roche protects what is his but it is not often that the werewolf opens himself up enough to grant anyone this side of his nature.
He is not a forgiving man and does not take betrayal lightly. Once burned, twice shy, and Roche’s benevolence is not to be squandered. He will drop you like a bad habit and won’t look back.

Curse Details
Once upon a time, Roche made a pact with a witch. He was granted a second chance at life if he spent that life in servitude to her and her daughters into perpetuity.
- Roche can die but he cannot die. He can be killed through normal means but he will eventually be resurrected.
- The time it takes to come back to life differs according to what trauma his body suffered. A simple gunshot to the head might take a day to recover. Dismemberment could take months. Being torn to shreds might take years.
- Case in point -- His body was incinerated once. It took a decade for him to return to life. Roche refers half-jokingly to those ten years as the best ten years of his life.
- The only way to break the cycle of resurrection, or so he assumes, is for all the women in the original witch's bloodline to die. Roche cannot kill them himself and they just keep having more daughters, so this is a theory he apparently can never test.
- He has to serve the current witch without question. He is compelled to obey them. To disobey causes the man great pain. Roche has tried to escape the curse before by simply running but it never works. He has learned to grin and bear it.
