Synopsis
Boston is a vast, diverse city, and there's no end to the areas where your threads may take place – from expensive five-star restaurants to seedy back alleys. In the interest of establishing a cohesive setting, the following is a list of descriptions of popular Boston hangouts and varied roleplay locations for you to explore. Feel free to set your threads in them at your leisure!
Places of Note
Smalley’s – Located in Boston’s Financial District, Smalley’s is a dive bar in every sense of the word. The walls are lined with photos of community celebrities and regulars alike, there is a collection of mismatched neighborhood kitsch at every turn, and its location tends to keep out the college-age riffraff. A centralized bar is surrounded by private booths and a dance floor; the back corner features a pool table, darts, and a vintage jukebox. The staff is friendly and the drinks are cheap, and its reputation as a local favorite is well earned.
Blacksheep – Catering to an upper-class clientele, Blacksheep is the sort of club you don’t know about unless you’re supposed to. Lit with a low blue light and cut with a modern, metallic feel, the club is a testament to indulgence and excess; the liquor is expensive, the cover charge worse, and the establishment adheres to a strict dress code. To those lucky enough to make it past the door, they will find the building filled with private lounges, long couches, and small booths; a dance floor dominates the main space, and there is a high upper balcony that overlooks the stage. Known to be popular with the aspiring werewolf socialite.
Ma’s Café – For the crowd looking to avoid the Starbucks at every corner, Ma’s is a breath of fresh air. A local treasure, the café is a narrow, cozy shop located near Kenmore Square and popular with the local college students. There are small, high tables and hanging drapes on the walls, and the feel of the place is homey, rustic, and natural. “Ma” herself often makes an appearance to indulge patrons with stories and biscuits. Come for the homemade pie, stay for the best coffee in Boston.
The Tipsy Cupcake – A large double storied building positioned on the corner of a widely used street; from the outside, with its red bricks, columns, Victorian borders, and large windows,The Tipsy Cupcake appears as an adult friendly bar with a splash of sugary sweetness. Once past the front doors, you will notice the red brick continues on each of the walls, stopping only at the soft pink wall that lies directly behind the large, rapping glass bar. The smell of baked goods with a hint of rum hits you as soon as you step past the threshold, upbeat music turned low giving it a fun but relaxed feel. To your left and right, booths and modern tables are stationed around the room. In front of you, the large, glass bar that, at every other minute changes color, takes up the majority of the back. Above you, exposed wood rafters fill the ceiling space, while below you; you noticed a dark stained hardwood floor. The second story, whose one and only entrance can be accessed through the kitchen, is off limits to customers as it is reserved for the owners home.
Artistically decorated cupcakes and desserts are set out on display, taking up a good portion of the bar space on the right side. Behind the bar sits the cash register, accompanied by a vast selection of alcoholic beverages, cappuccino machines, and a grey swinging door that leads to the kitchen. The Tipsy Cupcake serves a large selection of alcohol, coffees, teas, and desserts, specializing in their widely popular cupcakes that can only be described as heavenly. In all, The Tipsy Cupcake is an upbeat, fun, and modern get away for those who are tired of the common bar scene.
