History:
Born and raised in Seward, Alaska. Logan grew up fishing, hiking, hunting and being a general terror to the wildlife outside. He was introduced into the family ‘business’ at the age of fourteen, and he shot his first werewolf at on his sixteenth birthday – it was in wolf form at the time. Logan participated in hunts throughout his life but broke off and did his own thing once he got out of High School.
The man ended up in Dutch Harbor where he fished whatever was in season. Crabbing season paid well and he made a small fortune. Werewolves started to make their presence known to him – dead fisherman were found mauled and mangled. He could not escape the family business, and hunted the werewolves in question down. Logan then decided, hell, he might as well do what he’s good at and committed himself to the hunting life.
He made a name for himself within the hunting circle by being exceptionally good at tracking certain werewolves down. Other hunters started to contract him to gather information and locate wanted werewolves.
Logan married his high school sweetheart shortly after they graduated. They had a few good years but fishing and his other “hobby” meant he spent a lot of time away from home. He came back one day to find Erin with another man. What followed was a severe loss of control, a violent fight, and a stint spent in jail wondering where the hell he went wrong. Erin and Logan divorced within months following the incident.
He left Alaska and lost himself to the road. His early twenties are a blur of drugs and alcohol, and many, many regrets. It was his father’s death that turned the man straight and he proceeded to lead a life of temperance and moderation. Logan spent his time working odd jobs between hunts and try as he might, he could never put roots down. His home became his old Ford and the various motels he stayed in.
A hunt went wrong saw the man mauled and changed. He was twenty-six at the time. He found adjusting to his wolf difficult and his beast nearly impossible to control. While in Boston, during a full moon, Logan succumbed to his wolf. He got into a fight with one of Nikolai’s cronies, killed him, and was soon found by Boston’s ‘enforcement’. In the interrogation that followed, Nikolai determined that the hunter might be an asset, given his particular set of expertise. Logan was given an ultimatum – leave Boston or become part of the pack. He would have chosen to leave if not for the unexpected death of his brother and his sister-in-law.
Ben and Jody died in a car crash late one night returning from a movie. This left their son, Aaden, without parents. Logan was the godfather and could not bring himself to put the child into foster care. With the need to take care of Aaden now his priority, Logan accepted Nikolai’s offer. The pack offered stability, steady cash flow, and the means to control his wolf.
Logan and Aaden live in a modest apartment in one of Boston’s ‘safer’ neighborhoods. When Logan is away for work, Aaden stays with their neighbor, Genevieve. It is not an ideal situation but Logan does the best that he can. As ever, he makes due, and perseveres.
Personality:
Despite what his tattoos, huge build, and scarred face might suggest, Logan is a man of a very affable nature. He is kind, prone to offering boyish and warm smiles. He was raised to understand the importance of respect, and the goodness in offering help where it is needed. He is the type of man that would offer you the shirt off of his back if you asked for it. At his core, the man is a provider, a giver, and it is a benevolent nature that has been taken advantage of more often than not.
While the general public sees this warm side of Logan, the pack and other wolves are treated with cold calculation and learned wariness. He has always been distrustful of non-humans and becoming a werewolf has not changed this. In fact, he has grown even more paranoid. He does what he can to keep the pack life separate from his home life, if only to save Aaden from the strangeness and dangers attributed to the wolves.
His skills and occupation may paint him as a killer in the eyes of other werewolves, but Logan still views himself as a hunter. He does not and will not accept orders to kill a human. Nikolai knows this, seems to respect this, and uses Logan specifically to deal with problem werewolves within Boston’s territory. It’s a living.
In the end, everything he does and every choice he makes, is with Aaden’s welfare in mind. At the back of his mind he knows it’s wrong to keep Aaden while he dabbles in a world of monsters and violence – but the kid is the only family he has left, and Logan made a promise when Ben asked him to be Aaden’s godfather.
And Logan Duvall, if anything, is a man of his word.
